VISION OF THE IGCSE-AS AND A-LEVEL DEPARTMENT

“We achieve our goal by living up to our values”

The Sixth Form represents for many young people, the most important two years of their school career. However, Sixth Form life is about so much more than examinations. This is also a time to broaden knowledge and experience, and to develop skills and interests that will last a lifetime. At Sharjah International Private School L.L.C | S.P.  we offer an array of enriching opportunities outside of the classroom and we actively encourage our students to get involved with student leadership. The contribution that a student can make to the wider school community should be embraced as their voice truly matters. Whether they are leading the school as part of our Student Executive team, or one of the school prefects, Arts, Sports or Sustainability Captains, the positions and responsibility afforded to our Sixth Form students will truly help to enhance the legacy of the school for years to come.

SYLLABUS COVERAGE AND EXAM PREPARATION AT SIPS

At SIPS, we support students with a 365 degree approach. Students are supported, parents are kept informed from time to time and UAE Framework is given its due importance. Whilst working around the various syllabuses that we teach and the curriculum we cover, we prepare them to succeed beyond the walls and premises of SIPS.

Enroute the IGCSE/AS and A Level pathway, the Sixth Form staff aims

  • at engaging students in mastering knowledge, strategies and skills required to succeed.
  • in bringing out confident students who are well-versed in the application of skills that are required by the subject stipulations.
  • in making students independent learners who research and explore and thereby perform to excel.
  • in encouraging students to become reflective in terms of being aware of where they are, where they should be and how that is possible.
  • in encouraging the students to become responsible in order to take the ownership of their learning and examination.
  • in encouraging students to become innovative to find new ways to study and research.

PREPARATION TOWARDS SIXTH FORM GOALS IN SIPS

The school has been following Cambridge Pathway for almost a decade. The only route in the Sixth Form until the last year was Cambridge Examination Board. The school with its current vision and mission pursues progress. One of the most important changes the new management has brought in, is the introduction of a second pathway: Edexcel Board of Examination.

The students start their Pre-IG teaching and testing mode in Year-10. The students appear for their IGCSE subjects in Year-11. Further to that, they take their AS and remaining three subjects in Year-12. Finally, they complete their two A-Level subjects in Year 13.

The Sixth Form focuses on the end goals of achievement. It supports students with staff members who are competent, experts and experienced. The school offers subjects that are predominantly taken by our student community. Resources from the examination board in the form past papers and guidance provided by them are clearly adhered to. Books used are either endorsed by the boards of examination or published by them. The teachers are trained continuously under rigorous external and internal CPD programmes.

WE HAVE IT AND WE FLAUNT IT!

Sharjah International Private School L.L.C | S.P. boasts of its great results since the yesteryears. The school first enrolled itself for IGCSE Cambridge Exams in the Year 2014. Starting from the Year 2014 until date, SIPS has achieved results that are worthy of emulation.

With our first batch of 14 students the school scored an encouraging result that became better with every passing year. As a result, we registered more students than every preceding year. That, in our opinion is the biggest testimony of our progress in the teaching learning process.  As a reputed IGCSE school in the region, we take pride in the fact that our school result average is better than that of the world’s. When compared, our result curve against that of the world’s has always been higher across all the subjects.

OUR WAY FORWARD

The school works on a stringent plan of completion of 70% of the syllabus in the Pre-IG class that is the Year: 10. The remainder is taught in the First Term of Year 11 and enough and more time is allocated for practice on exam-style questions with the help of past papers. Strategies that encourage innovation, independent-learning, reflection and likewise are employed to encourage students to become responsible IGCSE, AS and A-Level students.
